He styled Nicole Kidman for the premiere of “Moulin Rouge”, styled Heidi Klum and Liz Hurley, former President Bill Clinton and Mohammed Ali for their public appearances. This register could be extended; however Peter Schmidinger does not only style celebrities, but women of all ages and social status to become true eye-catchers. Beside a set of tools like make-up palette, powder tin and mascara his repertoire also includes substantial expertise, many beauty tricks and psychological finesse. He believes in the successful mixture of perfect make-up and naturalness. His motto: less is more. The top make-up artist sees at a glance how to make a face look amazing. His job, which he learned from the scratch, is also his hobby. His career started more than 20 years ago in Germany where he learned from Peter Kirchberger. He later worked in Paris, Milano and London and knows about all branches of beauty. Amongst others he did television and advertising productions, promotional films, video clips, photo shootings and fashion shows of Chanel, Dior, Escada. He styled models for fashion magazines like Elle, InStyle, Madame, Vogue and Glamour, only to mention some of them. But in spite of his glamorous work, Peter Schmidinger is quite down-to-earth. Now he offers his KnowHow in courses and workshops to young make-up artists and interested laymen.

KeySale: Mr Schmidinger, what is the secret of this exclusive decorative cosmetic?
Peter Schmidinger: The FACE DESIGN COLLECTION, that is the name of the new Make-up range, which I developed with BABOR, is based on a complete new concept. The FACE DESIGN COLLECTION is a small range in a puristic yet classic design. All products can also easily be used by laymen. That is very important for me. For more than 20 years I have been working in the world of beauty and came up against products that are superficially styled for sake of show effects. But those products are extremely difficult to use. The BABOR FACE DESIGN COLLECTION is different. I wanted to develop a Make-up Line by women for women. Together with the beauty professionals of Babor, we did many workshops with end-consumers. In those workshops we tried and tested again and again until we had found the perfect texture and colour; simply the perfect product to underline the natural beauty of every women.

KeySale: You said, that you focused on the application of the products during the development. How does the FACE DESIGN COLLECTION work?
Peter Schmidinger: Getting the perfect look is easier than some women think. I can give a face a clearly harmonic look in three steps. Starting with the natural shape the face is given either more or less contours by accentuating different areas. This is easy if you follow three little steps – brightener, blush and eyebrows. These steps had always been in our mind while we developed the products. For example: the eyebrows are often forgotten in a Make-up, but they are the frame of every face.

KeySale: BABOR Cosmetics is one of the leading skin care brands. In which way did this influence the development of the new Make-up range?
Peter Schmidinger: Skin care was an important factor during the development! The FACE DESIGN COLLECTION offers protection, nurturing, regeneration and colour all in one product. Especially for this line, BABOR has developed an “lifting“ complex. I have to admit, I learned a lot about skincare in the last months as I worked very closely with the research & development department of Babor. I never would have thought, that plants like sea fennel, which is contained in the “lifting” complex, has such a great effect.

KeySale: How many products has the complete decorative cosmetic line of BABOR Cosmetics?
Peter Schmidinger: The FACE DESIGN COLLECTION contains about 22 different products. Plus the different colours, nuances, textures, that can be customized for every skintype. My favourite products are the Perfect Skin Illuminator and the Deluxe Foundation. The Perfect Skin Illuminator is an absolute must-have for the perfect look. The mimetic pigments do not build up in lines no matter what facial movements your face makes and it is very easy to apply! The Deluxe Foundation is also easy to handle. The “Stay True” pigments fuse with the skin and hold extremely long. That is the ideal base for a harmonious and natural Make-up look.

KeySale: You have worked for BABOR at the charity event TRIBUTE TO BAMBI and the German Media Award BAMBI in autumn 2009. Which events are planed for 2010?

Peter Schmidinger
: I enjoyed being a part of the BABOR team at the BAMBI-Award very much. The styling of German actress Wolke Hegenbarth was great. She is very charming and has a great natural charisma. I also enjoyed talking to Charlene Wittstock and Eva Padberg, who came to our lounge to get some beauty tricks. And even some men proved some courage and interest in beauty and visited our beauty lounge. Wolfgang Joop was just one of them. In 2010 I will be doing road shows for BABOR all over Germany. But we will also visit many of the 60 international BABOR markets - for example the USA, Russia and Norway. Most of all I am looking forward to my workshops in the new BABOR FACE DESIGN ACADEMY in Munich. I still love this part of my job the most: to observe the transformation during my work and to show each and every woman a new facet of her beauty.
